Donald Crawford is a London-based writer and barrister who used to work as a national newspaper executive. He was formerly a publisher of Parliamentary Brief, a monthly British political journal that has a special readership consisting of the members of the British House of Commons and the House of Lords as well as senior civil officers and political journalists.
His book The Last Tsar: Emperor Michael II tells the story of Grand Duke Michael Aleksandrovich, the true last tsar of Russia, and how he could have been the man who could have transformed Russia. It recounts how he was murdered by the Bolsheviks in June 1918, and how they subsequently hid the truth of his death afterwards.
Along with his wife, Rosemary, Donald co-authored Michael and Natasha: The Life and Love of Michael II, the Last of the Romanov Tsars. He wrote The Last Tsar as a sequel to Michael and Natasha, and he is currently at work on the third book revolving on the Romanov Era, entitled An Historical Guide to Romanov St Petersburg. The latter is a discourse on how successive emperors and empresses from the 18th to the 20th centuries built and molded the city and society that is St Petersburg.
Donald enjoys learning and writing about history and imparting such knowledge to other people.
