SELF-PUBLISHING
Self-publishing Vs Traditional Publishing

One advantage of self-publishing over traditional publishing is the amount of creative reign that it gives you. Self-publishing grants you the freedom on the format and the design of your book. In contrast, traditional publishers possess the complete control to twist and edit your story in any way they desire. In the end, your published book maybe far from what you originally envision it. In contrary, self-publishing lets you experience the independence that you so desire—hands on business of publishing..

Another advantage of self-publishing is the speed of getting your book published. It takes months to self-publish your book as compared to years in traditional publishing. This is mainly due to the processes that you have to go through before your manuscript turns into a book. You would need to pitch your manuscript to several traditional publishing houses. And this usually takes a lot of time without any guarantee that your book will be published. You may spend a lot of time scouring for traditional publishers only to be repeatedly rejected.

Aside from such advantages, self-publishing offers more benefits that make it more preferable compared to traditional means of publishing such as the amount of profit that you collect, the ease in getting published, retention of rights, etc.

I’m already a traditionally published author. Can I choose self-publishing for my next books?

Yes, you can. Opting to self-publish on your next publishing venture is actually a good decision as you may have in some way established your name as a traditionally published author and gained loyal following.
