Climbing the Mount Everest of Depression is a memoir and inspirational book. The author started her struggle with depression when she was 35 and the very difficult struggle continued for the next thirty years. During the course of her treatment, the author experienced many different kinds of treatment. After reaching a sense of recovery, she decided to write her book in order to provide hope to people who are suffering from depression and to their families and friends. In addition to the author’s personal story, the book provides a wealth of information about depression.
About the author
Laurie is a registered nurse who graduated with a masters degree in nursing education from the University of Minnesota. She worked in a variety of settings until her career was sidelined by a diagnosis of depression and anxiety. She continued to be active in her community throughout her recovery by volunteering in many arenas including the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Her first two books included Climbing the Mount Everest of Depression with the Help of Strong Cleats –One Person’s Journey through the Crevasses of Depression and a second edition, Climbing The Mount Everest of Depression-A Story of Hope, Recovery and Inspiration.
