Hello everyone!
Do you think marketing our books through various social networking sites is effective? I've been using social networking sites for personal use, but i haven't tried them as means in marketing my books. Please share your thoughts on this topic.

Hi Julie,
Book Marketing through Social Networking Sites is can be very effective. But of course, the success of that depends on the activity and being proactive of the author. SN sites are a great venue to market, just don't forget its primary existence--to socialize.

Thanks for this simple information, good to know that.
Social networking may be of no charge but it takes a lot of investment. Social networking i think should not be used primarily for marketing. Social networking is about building relationships. You can best use social networking by keeping your identity as human as possible being an author, to inspire your readers.
I agree with you Tawny. Social networking sites would need to be invested with time and communication. Although it can be used to reinforce one's marketing campaign, its primary purpose should be socialization and reader to writer interaction. Thanks for your post. It's well said.

I'm learning a lot from this thread. By the way, what are the top social networking sites for this year? Is it necessary for authors to have a social networking account? I was just thinking that being too accessible means you can also me spammed easily.

Hello Marnelli! I'm glad that you are learning something from our forum. It's not necessary for you to sign up for a social networking site. But, having social networking sites will help you expand your contacts. Moreover, it also allows you to easily share information about your book all over the world. I hope i answered your question. If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to reply on this thread or email us at info@bookwhirl.com.

People will get upset with you when your only goal is to market your book. When it comes to socializing, one MUST contribute to the conversation. Building relationships with people can lead to book sales, but you just can't force your product on others. Be real, be reachable, be genuine, be honest and be consistent. Learn to develop your approach or USP (Unique Selling Position).
