writing on columns

when you talk about promotions, i think it's a good idea if you ask your local paper's columnist to write a review for your book. Almost everybody in town subscribes to a newspaper.

That's a good idea, Marnelli. Columnists can do book reviews. It's definitely a cost efficient way to promote your book.

Some papers may consider it

Some papers may consider it trying to get advertising for free and may not do it. Check with them first to see if they even have a section for reviews or if they do reviews.

If they do, there will assign a writer to it.

We have a promo package that includes a review.

newspaper reviews etc

All comments above have validity. However, if you are in a position to have some newsworthy item to submit at the same time I find our local newspaper is very cooperative.
