writing or journalism?

I want to share my friend's situation to all of you. I thought it would help her. She is torn between the idea of going to either being an English major or enroll in Journalism. Does it really make a difference?

I graduated with a degree in Journalism. Writing can be very broad you know. Although, well, it's more focused on creativity. But Journalism opens more doors to opportunity. It gives you the chance to be in corporate communications, broadcasting, newspapers, radio programs, etc. I think your friend needs to know what does she want. Tell her to think it over.
I think she would go for English major because right now, all over thw world, journalist are being murdered.
